         With the development of coatings industry,the various special functions are demanded more and more widely,and people arouse more attention on high performance requirements of filler.Sericite with its unique chemical structure,structure the application more and more widely in the field in the coatings,the main areas:building exterior wall paint,powder coating,heat resistant coatings,insulation coatings,anti-corrosion coatings,road marking paint,waterproof paint,anti radiation coating,spacecraft thermal control coatings.
A:The application mechanism of the wet grinding Sericite used  in coatings
         According to literatures,inorganic mineral in the coating size and mineral shape effect on coating strength,generally in the following order:decreasing flake,fibrous,columnar,granular.In addition the wet grinding Sericite with active hydroxyl groups make it easy to combine with emulsion,wet grinding Sericite flakes dispersed easily suspended in the mixture of emulsion and water,arranged in parallel in the film,overlap and overlap,forming a laminated structure,increase the compactness of the coating,so as to improve the film strength,abrasion resistance,anti permeability,to prevent cracking.
         Wet grinding Sericite can enhance the coating aging resistance,ultraviolet resistance,weather resistance.This is mainly due to the wet grinding sheet structure Sericite has excellent shielding effect of Mica on ultraviolet,microwave,infrared,and  the chemical composition of the wet grinding Sericite is inert,stable,can resist acid and alkali,so that the coating is more suitable to the acid rain,the worsening climate environment.
B:The characteristics and functions of wet grinding Sericite used in coatings industry
         1.Sheet structure,adding coatings can improve coating barrier ability of ultraviolet and moisture penetration,and film-forming substances chemical reaction,make into integrate,make the film penetrate the consumer to block the light,improve the water resistance and weather resistance,prevent cracking,delay powder coating,prolong service life;reduce the dosage of resin,so as to reduce the production cost.
         2.Sheet structure,can improve the compactness of the coating,eliminate pinhole phenomenon.
         3.Improve the dispersion and film coating of the air resistance,water resistance,improved coating uniformity.
         4.Good chemical stability:with excellent heat resistance and acid and alkaline resistance;with antibacterial,mildewproof effect.
         5.Improve the rheological properties of coatings,such as thickening,anti settling etc..
         6.Enhance the coating fullness, tenacity, improve the scrub resistance.
         7.Have good compatibility with other pigments and solvent,wet grinding Sericite can adsorbe dye molecules into the interlayer,so the paint can be last for a long time  and does not fade.
         8.Adjust the Optical properties of coatings,improve the appearance of film coating,with the extinction of the coating system.
