U.S. scientists have developed a coating additive which can repair rust from itself
2014.06.04 08:32 Since the ONR and the Johns Hopkins University of Applied Physics Laboratory have jointly developed a new coating additives, military vehicles can paint with healing capabilities similar to human skin, thus preventing the vehicle corrosion.
Such additives are referred to as poly powdered fibroblasts (polyfibroblast),can be added to a commercial primer. It consists fill oily liquid polymer microspheres composed, once the coating scratches, breakage resin coated at the exposed steel will form a waxy waterproof outer coating to prevent corrosion, especially for the military in harsh environments the use of the vehicle.Ocean salt spray is the leading cause of military hardware failure, ship transport and storage of vehicles are also susceptible to ocean salt spray.Laboratory tests showed that the interior is full of salt spray, poly fibroblasts prevent corrosion for up to six weeks.
