Basf Paper and water treatment will be merged with Solenis

The German chemical giant Basf and US special chemical products producer Solenis signed a agreement, to joint operate the Basf wet paper chemicals and water treatment chemicals business. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. Transaction financial details were not disclosed.

      The combined new entity, with sales of about 2.4 billion euros in 2017, employs about 5,000 people. The product mix will cover the whole wet end function and the process chemicals, the paper factory  water cycle solution, and the water treatment chemical platform.

Basf will hold a 49 percent stock in the company, which will operate in the name of Solenis, and the headquarters is located in Wilmington , Delaware in USA. A fund managed by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice will hold 51 percent stock.

The deal includes basf's global wet paper chemicals and water treatment chemicals business, with sales of about 800 million euros in 2017 and about 1,300 employees worldwide. Bradford and in the UK in Grimsby Altamira , the United States Virginia Suffolk, Mexico, India Sophocles Anwar and Australia temperature nana's papermaking wet end chemicals and water treatment chemicals production devices will be transferred to join the Basf in Ludwigshafen , Germany and China Nanjing paper and water treatment chemicals production unit and integration of the base are closely linked, are not included in the deal, and will be through the medium and long term supply agreement for the joint company to provide products and raw materials. Basf's paper coating chemicals portfolio is not in the trading range.

Solenis is a special chemicals manufacturer that provides solutions to pulp, paper, oil and gas, chemical processes, mining, biological refining, power and municipal construction and other water-consuming industries. Solenis's products composition includes a range of processes, functions and water treatment chemicals, as well as sophisticated surveillance systems. Headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, the company operates 35 production bases around the world and has about 3,700 members in 118 countries.
