THE 13TH CHINA INTERNATIONAL PETROCHEMICAL CONFERENCE 2022 WAS HELD IN NINGBO, ZHEJIANG PROVINCE

Ningbo, Nov. 17 (CNR.cn) -- The 13th China International Petrochemical Congress 2022 was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on Monday. Under the theme of "Sustainable Resilience for New Growth", this conference will discuss the implementation of new development concepts and the realization of sustainable resilient growth, deepen the positive interaction and convergence of interests of the world's petrochemical industry, and discuss high-quality cooperation and development plans for the world's petrochemical industry.

"We attach great importance to the sustainable development of our petroleum and chemical industries. Based on our own energy and resource endowment, we will carry out a plan to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality step by step. We will further promote the energy revolution, strengthen the clean and efficient use of coal, and intensify exploration and development of oil and gas resources and increase storage and production. At the same time, China is also vigorously strengthening the construction of technological innovation system, promoting the development of digital intelligent green transformation and upgrading, accelerating the planning and construction of a new energy system and a new system of modern petrochemical industry, earnestly implementing its responsibilities and international obligations as a major country, actively participating in global governance against climate change, and striving to maintain the security and stability of the world petrochemical industry chain and supply chain. China has contributed to the resilient growth of the global petrochemical industry." Li Yunpeng, Party secretary of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, said in a speech at the conference.

It is reported that by the end of September this year, the industrial added value of China's petroleum and chemical industries has maintained growth for three consecutive years. Compared with 2019, the operating revenue and profit have increased by about 22% and 80% respectively. Import and export trade, in particular, maintained a high growth rate of 27.4 percent in the first three quarters of this year, on the basis of 38.7 percent year-on-year growth in 2021. The total import and export volume of the whole industry is expected to exceed one trillion US dollars in 2022, which is expected to increase by nearly 40% compared with 2019.

According to Li, in the first three quarters of this year, a large number of high-quality foreign projects invested by multinational companies such as BASF, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco have been launched in China at an accelerated pace, which once again highlights the resilience of the sustainable growth of China's petroleum and chemical industries and the huge potential of China's petrochemical market. It highlights the important role of the petroleum and chemical industries in ensuring the survival and development of mankind and maintaining the security and stability of the global industrial chain and value chain.

Going forward, China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, its member units and industry enterprises will focus on the following five aspects: strengthening practical cooperation in energy and resources, in-depth cooperation in green transformation, coordinated cooperation in industrial chain, Belt and Road cooperation, and standardization cooperation in the world petrochemical market, promote the construction of a new global energy and resources system, and improve the global energy and resources governance capacity. At the same time, focusing on the common difficulties of promoting carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth, we will deepen global cooperation on green economy, build a number of petrochemical industry cooperation zones with clear industrial positioning, prominent geographical advantages, advanced operation and management, and obvious ecological effects. We will carefully study and put forward policy suggestions on expanding the opening-up of rules, regulations, standards and other systems, and promote the building of an open world economy. We will actively contribute to the resilient, high-quality and sustainable growth of the petrochemical industry in China and the world.
