Carlyle completed the purchase of the business of DuPont Performance Coatings

The private equity giant Carlyle Group (CG) announced on Monday that they has completed the purchase of DuPont(DD) performance coatings business,the transaction price of$ 4.9 billion.

The deal was announced in August last year,DuPont said,"I hope to focus on more profitable and faster-growing business,such as agriculture and advanced materials businesses.This business isfor the sale of the products for the automotive and industrial sectors,including repair paint,original equipment manufacturers, industrial liquid and powderproducts.In 2012,the business revenue of it is expected to be over four billion U.S. dollars.

During the few years prior to this,DuPont had tried to improve theperformance of its high-performance coatings sector,including layoffs and the closing of factories and othermeasures taken.The department currently has 35 factories in the world,as well as seven technical centers.

Carlyle said that this new business will be renamed as Axalta Coating Systems.
