Definition:any substance can make design need color,this material is referred to as the colorant,it can be organic or inorganic,can be natural or synthetic.

Colorants are mainly two kinds: pigments and dyes.Pigment is the stain can't dissolve in ordinary solvents,therefore,to obtain ideal color performance,need to use mechanical method approach to the pigment dispersed equality in the plastic. According to the structure can be divided into organic pigments and inorganic pigments.Inorganic pigments have better thermal stability and light stability,price is low,but the tinting strength is inferior,density is big;Organic pigment tinting strength high,bright color,complete chromatography,the relative density is small,the disadvantage is heat resistance,weather resistance and covering power is inferior to inorganic pigment.Dye is available for most of the solvent and dyeing plastic organic compounds,the advantages is small density,high tinting strength and good transparency,but due to its small average molecular structure,will easily occurs migration during dyeing.

White pigment mainly contains titanium dioxide,zinc oxide and lithopone. Titanium dioxide is divided into rutile type and anatase type,rutile type titanium dioxide has the advantage of high refractive index,high covering power and good stability,weather resistance.

Carbon black is commonly used black paint,the price is cheap,it also has uv protection (anti-aging) and conductive function on plastic,different production process can obtain a wide range of different particle size carbon black,the nature difference is very big also.According to utility carbon black can be divided to color carbon black and rubber reinforcing carbon black.Carbon black is prone to particle aggregation,to improve the tinting strength of carbon black,should solve the dispersion of carbon black.

Pearl pigment called mica titanium pearl pigment,is a kind of titanium dioxide coated mica chip.According to different color,can be divided into silvery white pearl pigment,rainbow pearl pigment,color pearl pigment three categories.
