AKZO NOBEL and AXALTA are discussing the merger

According to foreign media reports, Dutch paint giant AKZO NOBEL and American peer AXALTA are considering the possible merger, but the negotiation is still in the early stage, and they may not be able to reach a deal because of the disruption.

Wall Street journal, Reuters, the Financial Times and many other media report, according to informed sources, Akzo Nobel NV, a Dutch coating and chemicals giant, is working with his American rival, Axalta, to discuss the possibility about merger in the future.

AKZO NOBEL is the world's second largest paint manufacturers, AXALTA is ranked fifth in the world. If a deal is reached, a global coating giant that will compete with the PPG industrial group will emerge, its annual revenue is expected to exceed $15 billion, and the total market value will exceed $30 billion.

According to sources, Axalta is considering the deal, negotiation are in the early stage. Because the details of the negotiations remain confidential, it is not known whether the two companies agree to merge or not.

Earlier this year, PPG Industries, a paint giant, gave up 26 billion euros worth of AKZO NOBEL's acquisition plan.
