1.The classification of the ink

With the development of printing technology,printing ink and a growing variety of classification method is also increasing.According to the mode can be divided into the following five kinds of printing.

Letterpress printing ink:Books black ink,rotary black ink,color printing ink

Lithographic printing ink:offset gloss resin ink,offset printing ink etc.

Gravure printing ink:rotogravure printing,intaglio ink etc.

Porous printing ink:ink Stencil Ink,screen version

Special printing ink:foaming ink,magnetic ink,fluorescent ink,conductive ink

2.The printability of the ink

The performance of the substrate,printing ink and other materials and printing conditions of phase matching,suitable for printing operations,called the printability.

Printing ink,the ink and printing conditions match performance,suitable for printing operations.Mainly,the viscosity,thixotropy,drying etc.

(1)The viscosity of ink

Friction characteristics shown in the flow of ink in the ink viscosity,called,physical quantity measuring ink viscosity,called ink viscosity. 

Ink viscosity can be measured by viscosity meter,commonly used viscometer with parallel plate viscometer,rotary viscometer,Raleigh viscometer etc.The printing speed faster and faster,the liquidity requirements of ink viscosity is bigger,smaller.The viscosity of the ink,you can adjust the inking oil or ink diluent.

(2)The Adhesion of ink

The ink from the ink to the ink roller,a printing plate,(Pib) the substrate surface transfer ink film splitting,first,and then transfer the ink ink film membrane rupture,ability shown in this dynamic process of resistance on the adhesion of the ink,called.Physical quantity measuring the ink adhesion,called ink Tack value.

Ink Tack value can use ink adhesion tester.In the process of printing,printing ink performance,if the conditions of the adhesive and the substrate does not match,will be the paper off powder,anti dropping,ink overprint bad,printing plate dirty printing fault.Adhesion of inks,can adjust to withdrawal adhesives or ZY ink additives.

(3)The Thixotropic of ink

At a certain temperature,ink stirring or applying external mechanical forces,liquidity is improved,the viscosity decreased;static,liquidity becomes bad,viscosity increase,this property is called thixotropic ink.

The printing process,if the thixotropic ink bad,will be "poor ink",ink uneven,dot enlargement printing fault severity.In order to prevent the fault occurrence,ink required shovel often ink in ink or ink in the ink agitator mounting from time to time in the supporting block printing ink.

(4)The drying of ink

Ink drying is more complex,there are mainly three forms.

Penetration drying:Ink binders,a partial penetration to the substrate,and the other part of pigment with sessile and dry at the substrate surface.High speed web printing machine using a non thermosetting web offset printing ink,usually to penetrate dry,mainly print newspapers,periodicals.

Oxidative polymerization drying:Ink binders and the oxygen in air to produce polymerization reaction,and drying in the film substrate surface.Offset gloss ink resin,bright color,good luster,mainly oxidation polymerization drying,printing high-grade fine offset printing products.

The volatile drying:Some ink binders,evaporate into the air,the rest of the binders and pigments on the surface of the substrate and dried.Gravure printing ink is connected with material for the volatile solvent,binders used is harmful to the human body of benzene,xylene.Current has been developed by using water as solvent for water-based ink,gravure and flexo printing,and reduce the pollution to the environment,promising.The volatile drying inks is especially suitable for thin film material printing without absorbent,such as plastic film,the metal foil.

In addition,the ink drying and ultraviolet,infrared,thermal curing and other forms.

Many of the ink dry,often two dry form combination to complete the monlchamus membrane drying.For example,quick drying ink sheetfed,suitable for printing offset printing products,it is the combination of osmotic and oxidative polymerization using the way of drying.

The printing process,if the ink dry bad,will cause the printing on the back rubbed against dirty,sticking,matte ink ink film,"crystallization" printing fault.

In order to speed up the ink dry,can join driers in printing ink.Common driers are:cobalt the dryness of the oil,manganese dry oil,lead the dryness of the oil.In order to reduce the ink drying speed,can be added in the ink drying inhibitor.
