Iron oxides are the workhorse inorganic pigments: opaque, light and weather resistant, alkali stable and low cost per tonne. Hongda supplies the standard colours as powder and, where the line needs it, as liquid dispersions.

01What are iron oxide pigments?
Inorganic pigments based on iron oxides. Red, yellow, black and brown, opaque, stable to light, weather and alkali, and cheap per tonne compared with organic color. That alkali stability is why they survive inside cement.
02What are iron oxide pigments used for?
Concrete products, mortars, pavers and roof tiles, architectural and industrial coatings, primers, stains, plastics and masterbatch. We also supply liquid dispersions, transparent black among them, for lines that would rather not grind pigment in house.
03What is the best pigment for concrete?
Iron oxide. It holds up in a high pH matrix, resists sun and weather on an outdoor slab, and costs little per cubic meter of concrete. Dose is normally 1 to 5% on cement weight, and the shade depends on the cement, so match on a cured sample, never on wet mix.
04What is the purpose of iron oxide in cement?
Color, nothing else. It does not act as a binder or change strength at normal dosage. The pigment particles sit in the cement paste and stay there, which is why the color does not wash out of pavers or roof tiles.
05Is iron oxide pigment safe?
Iron oxides are among the most inert pigments in use, which is why they appear in construction, coatings and, in specific purified grades, in cosmetics. Handling is the usual dust discipline. Ask the pigment team for the safety data sheet of the grade you plan to buy before you commit.
