You want a supplier that still answers in ten years. Hongda has made pigments, dyes and specialty chemicals in Ningbo since 1992 and sells them through partners who distribute in their own countries. Some of those partners have been with us for 28 years.

In 1995, one man flew to Brazil with a suitcase of samples.
Yuan Junjie was in his twenties and did not know the market. He met a young pigment company called Transcor, and both sides bet on each other.
Hongda brought the chemistry and the factory; Transcor brought the country, the language and the customers. Twenty-eight years later Transcor is one of the three biggest pigment suppliers in Brazil. That is the whole model: one serious partner per country, growing together for decades.
The same handshake repeats in Pakistan, Mexico, Egypt, Vietnam and a dozen other markets.

The spark in Ningbo
A port city, a crowded market and a small team that decided not to follow but to lead. This is where Hongda Group began, without fanfare but with fire.

Hongda looks outward for the first time and brings Korea's Direct Black EX dyes to China. More than a product launch, it is a transfer of knowledge and the first time the name is tied to international quality.

First in China, and a conference in Ningbo
Hongda is the first company to bring bifunctional reactive dyes to the Chinese market, then hosts the China-Korea Dyes Conference. A company two years old, already shaping the conversation.

Building the backbone
Great companies strengthen the whole chain. With Tianjin Greatwall Chemical, Hongda moves into naphthol intermediates and becomes one of the biggest exporters of beta naphthol and Tobias acid.

Coloring the world
Disperse Black EX-SF enters China's polyester market, a full disperse range grows with Runtu and Longsheng, and the first containers of disperse dyes leave Ningbo for Europe and the United States.

Feeding the fire of a growing industry
Bifunctional dyes become the standard and China runs short of raw materials. Hongda imports K acid and Tobias acid from India and partners with Tianjin Greatwall Chemical to make intermediates at home.

The birth of a Dragon
Six years of products, and no identity yet. In 1998 Hongda creates the Dragon brand and the quality system behind it, and turns from a manufacturer into a name people trust.

First time at the China International Dyes Fair in Shanghai. Buyers from Europe, Southeast Asia and the Americas meet the Dragon brand, and a Chinese name steps onto the world stage.

Beyond dyes, a new canvas
A decade mastering dyes, and then a new horizon: coatings. Hongda begins developing pigments and coating raw materials, growing from a dye company into a chemical solutions company.

Crossing oceans, the Brazilian partnership
The perfect partner was not in Asia or Europe but in Brazil. A partnership creates Transcor high-performance pigments for paints and inks, built together for global markets.

Building a national network
The first branches open in Fujian, Shandong and Shenzhen, each a full hub with warehouse, technical support and logistics. Hongda stops being a distant manufacturer and becomes a partner on the ground.

Go global, plant roots
Exporting was no longer enough. Hongda opens distribution branches in Asia, South America, Europe and Africa, with local teams and local warehouses, and earns a place on the shortlist in each region.

A new frontier, pharmaceuticals and food
Higher purity, stricter rules, zero room for error. Hongda opens a pharmaceutical section with cleanrooms and analytical labs, and attends CPHI for the first time, on its way to becoming a diversified group.

The German partnership, precision in textiles
German formulation know-how meets Hongda's knowledge of Chinese mills: the Tanatex textile auxiliaries are born. The same year, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 confirm that Hongda operates to an international standard.

Investing in the future, the Zhejiang pigment factory
Pigment demand outgrows the old facilities. Hongda could limit its growth or invest in it, and chooses to invest: a new factory in Zhejiang with modern lines, tighter quality control and better environmental performance.

Strengthening the core in Ningbo
Back to where it all began. Hongda builds a dedicated textile auxiliary facility in Ningbo to develop and make the products Chinese mills were asking for, to the standard they expect from the Dragon brand.

Italian innovation, a breakthrough in Europe
With Italy's Isocarbo, Hongda co-develops disperse dyes engineered for rotary screen printing and inks. Not a supplier this time, but a partner in innovation that earns its place in Europe.

Chemistry is about function, not only colour. Hongda develops SAP, PAM, DCDA and silicon chemicals, and grows into a specialty chemical group serving industries from textiles to water treatment.

The discovery, China's best TiO2
For decades one name ruled titanium dioxide. In 2010 Hongda and Xinfu set out to challenge it and develop NTR-606, a drop-in replacement for the 902 and 706 grades and a new standard for the Chinese sulfate process.

The world answers NTR-606 with a resounding yes. Thirty thousand tonnes exported, lead supplier in Brazil, Bangladesh and Central Asia, and approval from PPG and Akzo Nobel for their own formulations.

Ningbo Hongda has more than thirty years of history. For over three decades we have held to one idea, pragmatic focus and constant improvement, and we have not relaxed for a moment in the pursuit of product quality and service quality. We can do this because we carry a dream: to build Hongda into an enterprise of quality, of value, and of lasting influence. I know that this goal is not the work of a day. It takes learning that does not pause, and effort that comes from the heart. Only that way can we keep pace with the industry, and only that way can we win more customers through fresh thinking and high-end service.
What reassures me is that we have a young and energetic team. Like me, they have ideals, enthusiasm and solid professional skills. Most important, they have a deep and personal understanding of four words: creating customer value.
