Strong acid bath · full shades
Acid range
Yellow to black across Brill. Yellow 2G, Scarlet B, Violet 4BNS and Nigrosine. Levels well under a strong acid bath, dyeing depth up to 4.0% owf on the blacks.
Textile Chemistry · Acid Dyes
Dragonacid dyes bond to the amino groups in wool, silk and nylon under an acid bath. Two ranges, acid and weak acid, from Brill. Yellow 2G to the depth blacks, each shade with its C.I. Acid number, dyeing depth and fastness data.

Product detail
The Dragonacid brochure lists every shade at 100 to 400% strength on wool, with C.I. Acid number where it applies, dyeing depth in % owf, fastness to light (xenon), washing at 40°C, perspiration and hot pressing.
Strong acid bath · full shades
Yellow to black across Brill. Yellow 2G, Scarlet B, Violet 4BNS and Nigrosine. Levels well under a strong acid bath, dyeing depth up to 4.0% owf on the blacks.
Mild bath · steadier wet fastness
A parallel yellow-to-black card, from Yellow TB to Black NB-G, dyed closer to neutral pH. Trades some levelling power for steadier wet fastness, most washing figures 4 to 5.
Where it goes
Before you order

Water-soluble anionic dyes that bond ionically with the amino groups in protein and polyamide fibers: wool, silk and nylon. Dragonacid runs a standard acid range and a weak acid range, each shade with its C.I. Acid number and fastness data in the brochure.
Wool sweaters and carpets, silk fabric, and nylon yarn and hosiery. Dragonacid indexes every shade by C.I. Acid number, from Brill. Yellow 2G to the depth blacks Nigrosine and Black NB-G.
No. Cotton has no amino groups for the dye to bond to, so an acid dye will not fix on it. Acid dyes need wool, silk or nylon; for cotton, Hongda's Dragondirect and Dragonfix ranges cover direct and reactive dyeing.
Strong acid dyes level well in a strong acid bath, formic acid at low pH, but give up some wet fastness. Weak acid dyes dye closer to neutral, acetic acid, and hold better washing fastness with less levelling power. Dragonacid carries a full yellow-to-black card in both, so you choose by the trade-off your article needs.
The dye's anion pairs with the protonated amino groups on wool, silk or nylon under an acid bath, an ionic bond that forms as the pH drops. Formic acid pushes it further for the acid range; a milder acetic acid bath suits the weak acid range. The brochure lists dyeing depth and fastness per shade so you can match strength to bath.
