Product detail

Titanium dioxide grades by system, not by slogan.

Titanium dioxide gives a coating or a plastic its whiteness, opacity and hiding power, and sets the base for every tinted shade. XINTI is the Hongda brand for it. Grade, crystal form and surface treatment are stated on the data sheet of each product; ask the pigments division for the current list.

Architectural · industrial

For paints and coatings

The white base of decorative and industrial paints, primers and powder coatings. Grade chosen by gloss, durability and the binder you run.

Masterbatch · compounding

For plastics

White and tint base for masterbatch, PVC, polyolefins and engineering plastics. Grade chosen by process temperature and dispersion.

Printing · laminates

For inks and paper

Opaque whites for printing inks, laminates and coated paper where hiding on a thin film matters. Grade chosen by the vehicle and the press.

Titanium Dioxide
01What are the two types of titanium dioxide?

Rutile and anatase, two crystal forms of the same compound. Rutile is denser, hides better and holds up outdoors, so it covers most coatings and plastics. Anatase is whiter and softer, used where brightness or low abrasion matters more than weathering.

02Is rutile the same as titanium dioxide?

Rutile is one crystal form of titanium dioxide, not a different chemical. When a supplier says rutile grade, they mean TiO2 in the rutile lattice, usually with an alumina or silica surface treatment for dispersion and durability.

03Why is anatase better than rutile?

It is not better across the board, only in specific jobs. Anatase gives a slightly bluer white and is less abrasive on equipment, which suits some paper, fiber and interior uses. For exterior paint or a plastic part in the sun, rutile wins on durability and hiding power.

04Why was titanium dioxide banned?

The European Union withdrew E171, titanium dioxide as a food additive, in 2022 over an unresolved question on nanoparticles taken by mouth. That decision covers food. Titanium dioxide as a pigment in coatings, plastics, inks and paper stays in normal use, and that is the market XINTI serves.

05What is another name for titanium dioxide?

Titanium white, TiO2, C.I. Pigment White 6, or E171 in the old food listing. On a purchase order the useful identifiers are the crystal form, the surface treatment and the grade code. Send the pigments division the grade you buy today and they answer with the closest match.
