Beyond Dyes: The World of Specialty Chemicals

By 2009, HONGDA had mastered color. But chemistry is about more than color. It is about function, and we were ready to explore new functions.

We began developing a new generation of specialty chemicals: dairy chemicals and surfactants. These were products with entirely different applications and entirely different customers. They weren't about making things look better. They were about making things work better.

We developed products like SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer), PAM (Polyacrylamide), DCDA (Dicyandiamide), and silicon chemicals.

These were not simple products. They required advanced chemistry, precise manufacturing, and deep technical understanding. Entering this space meant investing in research, developing new capabilities, and learning new industries.

But it also meant something bigger. HONGDA was no longer just a dye company, or even a pigment company. We were becoming a broad-spectrum specialty chemical group, capable of serving industries from textiles to agriculture, from water treatment to pharmaceuticals.
