A New Frontier: Pharmaceuticals and Food

By 2004, HONGDA had mastered dyes, intermediates, and pigments. But the chemical world is vast, and we saw a new frontier: pharmaceuticals and food additives.

These were industries with completely different requirements. Purity standards were higher. Regulations were stricter. Quality control had to be absolute, because in these fields, mistakes could affect human health. It was a serious step, and we took it seriously.

We opened a new pharmaceutical section within the group. We invested in cleanroom facilities, analytical laboratories, and specialized personnel. We developed products that met the rigorous standards of the pharmaceutical and food industries.

That same year, we attended the CPHI Show, the leading global event for pharmaceutical ingredients. It was our introduction to a new industry, a new set of customers, and a new level of responsibility. We were no longer just a dye company. We were becoming a diversified chemical group.

This was not a decision we took lightly. Entering pharmaceuticals meant accepting a higher level of accountability. But it also meant accessing markets with higher value, higher margins, and higher barriers to entry. HONGDA was ready for the challenge.
