When a direct dye is the right call for cotton.
Not every cotton article needs the wash fastness of a reactive dye. Linings, low cost knits and some home textiles sell on price, and a direct dye colors them in one simple bath.
Dragondirect runs a common dyeing curve at 90 to 95°C and a special curve at 130°C. Dyeing depth and fastness are listed for every shade, so the limits are clear before you plan the recipe.
For a deeper, faster blue, Copper Blue 2R takes a copper sulfate aftertreatment. When the article does need reactive fastness, the same textile division supplies Dragonfix.

01Which fibers can a direct dye color?
Cotton, viscose and other cellulose fibers. Dragondirect is built for exhaust dyeing and padding on those fibers.
02Can direct dye run on a continuous line?
Yes. The brochure lists padding dyeing with a leveling agent for continuous lines, next to the exhaust curves.
03What depth do the Dragondirect blacks reach?
Black SB, Black OB, Black G, Black GF and Black VSF600 go up to 5.0% owf.
04Is direct dye cheaper than reactive dye?
Direct dyeing is the lower cost route because the process is simpler. The trade-off is moderate washing fastness, listed per shade in the brochure.
