First China (Ningbo) Yangtze River Delta Forum on New Chemical Materials Opens
On December 18, the China (Ningbo) Yangtze River Delta Forum on New Chemical Materials opened at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Ningbo. The forum was led by Ningbo Hongda Group, with General Manager Yuan Junjie as chief organizer and coordinator.
The forum brought together more than one hundred experts and professors in petrochemical and new materials from across the country, along with executives from leading chemical companies, listed companies and Fortune 500 petrochemical firms, for wide-ranging discussion of development trends for new chemical materials under the 14th Five-Year Plan, covering plastics, coatings, colorants and functional materials, textile printing and dyeing materials, antibacterial and epidemic prevention materials, and international trade in new materials. Hu Wangrong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ningbo Municipal Government, opened the event with a welcome address, noting that as one of China's seven national petrochemical industry bases, Ningbo has long relied on petrochemicals as a pillar of its economy. Over several decades of steady growth, Ningbo has built a large petrochemical system centered on the Zhenhai, Beilun and Daxie clusters, led by refining and ethylene, and structured around eight industry chains including C2, C3, aromatics and new chemical materials. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Ningbo will invest a further 400 billion yuan to build a world-class green petrochemical base.
Zhao Jungui, Vice President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation; Shi Xianping, President of the China Dyestuff Industry Association; Liu Jie, Secretary-General of the China National Coatings Industry Association; and He Koubao, Secretary-General of the Shanghai New Materials Association, were among the senior industry figures who attended and spoke. Leading new chemical materials companies from across the country, including Lily Group, Zhejiang Runtu, Shandong Yangguang, Dalian Baiao, Anhui Xuyang, Shanghai Yuang, Zhejiang Namei, Zhanchen and Yuntong New Materials, along with representatives of multinational, listed and Fortune 500 companies such as LANXESS, PPG, BASF, Sherwin-Williams, Lubrizol and Yingchuang, shared insights on resin materials, plastics, coatings, colorants and functional materials, textile printing and dyeing materials, antibacterial and epidemic prevention materials, and international trade in new materials. The hall was full throughout, with the audience following the presentations closely.
Company representatives from more than 20 Belt and Road countries, including Mexico, India and Pakistan, who were unable to attend because of the pandemic, sent video messages of congratulation.
To close the event, Ningbo Hongda Group General Manager Yuan Junjie was invited by moderator He Koubao, Secretary-General of the Shanghai New Materials Association, to give brief remarks and thank the guests and audience.
The forum was also streamed live, drawing nearly 200,000 views on opening day and generating a strong and highly positive response across the industry.
